1923

Police officers McCray, Tyree and Holt caught on Lester Street a Dodge Roadster with 25 gallons of illicit liquor. Two of the men got away, and the third was arrested but has refused to give his name. The car had North Carolina tags.

1948

Gas prices ranged from 25.4 cents to 28.2 cents a gallon.

1973

Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Geter ran Pine Hall Grocery at 1113 Pine Hall Road, Martinsville.

Donnie and Timmy Myers of Boy Scout Troop 67, sponsored by Collinsville Church of the Brethren, earned Eagle Scouts awards. William Leonard Foley was their scoutmaster.

When cell phones were new: Intelos has a store at 4 Walnut Street, where it sold Motorola wireless systems, including digital PCS phone and prepaid Starter Cards. / Circuit City offered a $25 bonus rebate on wireless phones, plus an additional $25 bonus rebate on Nokia Wireless Phones, plus 100 minutes per month for $19.95. The cellular agent was United States Cellular.
