Zack Fleming presents the maps of Thomas Jefferson, his father Peter Jefferson and more that defined Virginia, the colonies and early America. Fleming, a cartographer, runs the website, YouTube page and social media sites Geography Geek. - November 2023

Thomas Jefferson was America's first architect and mentored several of the nation's first professional architects. His creations include public works, such as The University of Virginia and the Virginia state capitol, and private structures, such as Monticello and Poplar Forest. Peter Marshall’s presentation highlights Jefferson’s creations, both famous and obscure. - July 2023

The 2023 Founders Day program celebrates the area’s rich lumber heritage. Speakers are Jay Dickens and Barry Fulcher of The Lester Group, and George Lester is a surprise guest.

Dicky Globman talks about the history of the Ohev Zion Synagogue, which was built in 1927 on Moss Street and moved to Parkview Avenue in 1961. Globman is the grandson of Abe and Masha Globman of the iconic store of that name. - October 2023

Author and historian Jan Mackell Collins presents a socially acceptable program about why the prostitution industry was so important in the development of America and the West. - October 2022

Speaker Will Pannill is the grandson of William Letcher Pannill, considered a pioneer of Martinsville's textile industry by opening the Pannill Knitting Company in 1925. It was the first mill in the South to knit cotton textiles rather than spin yarn or weave cloth. - March 2022

Phillip Davis gives the 25-year history of the museum at the former Henry County Courthouse. The Martinsville-Henry County Historical Society was formed in 1996 when Henry County moved its court operations from the 1824 to a new facility on Kings Mountain Road. - December 2021

Truman Adkins gives the history of Jack Fontaine’s Spring Branch, which runs under The Village of Martinsville (former Liberty Fair Mall). It is named for the freedman who is thought to be the first black person to buy real estate in Henry County. The presentation also includes Lester Airport, the Fair and how the land changed from a hollow to what it is today. - September 2023

Virginia King talks about Martinsville Historic District’s compact array of architectural styles reflecting the taste of technologies of nearly every period of its development, including well preserved examples of Greek revival, Romanesque revival, Classical revival, colonial revival, commercial, international and art deco styles. - October 2022

Aluminum Christmas trees were all the rage in the 1960s. Now they are enjoying a resurgence in popularity. The sparkly, brilliant aluminum tree at the MHC Heritage Center & Museum is one of seven special Christmas trees on display during the Christmas season. - December 2023
