Be part of the MHC Historical Society

The Martinsville-Henry County Historical Society offers various levels of membership with distinct benefits at each level.

The opening of the new section of the museum, estimated in early winter 2024, will bring the MHC Heritage Museum from local to national level interest. The expanded museum will be filled with significant collections of antiques: Native American artifacts, firearms, defense canes, gambling parlor, tools, toy trains, steam engines and more., along with a research library to aid academics, collectors and investors.

The antiques and the cost of construction of the new part of the building are generously donated by Dr. and Mrs. Mervyn and Virginia King of Martinsville, their gift to the community. It is now the privilege and the responsibility of the MHC Historical Society to operate that museum and ensure its continued success. To that end, the Historical Society adds deeper levels of membership to reflect the benefits of the new, expanded museum - and, crucially important, to help support that museum financially.

The Historical Society’s expanded museum is in addition to its regular, beloved educational and cultural offerings, such as the Sunday Afternoon Lecture Series, “Looking Back” history column and collection of articles, Sounds on the Square music series, classes and field trips for students, and more.
