Henry County 250: American from the Start - Sunday Afternoon Lecture

All the attention has been on America and Virginia now being 250 years old—but did you know that as soon as Virginia was created, Virginia created Henry County? An Act of Assembly created the County of Henry in October 1776, and that same Act set up Henry County’s first court session to be on the third Monday in January. MHC Historical Society Executive Director Holly Kozelsky will talk about the people who built the county, how the agricultural innovations happened in Leatherwood, how the populace fled from Beaver Creek to near present-day Stanleytown, and much more. Admission is free.
