100 Years ago – 1925
The first used car dealership known about now through advertisements was The Henry County Motor Co., which sold used cars, used car parts, accessories, gas and oil. It also offered repairs and storage.
75 years ago – 1950
The Martinsville School Board decided to use the building of the former Central Grammar School for storage, so that it could buy supplies in bulk at savings and store them in that building, and also possibly for a maintenance shop. Also, the Board voted to buy a 75- by 150-foot lot near the Brown and Ellsworth streets intersection on which to build the shop building.
25 years ago - 2000
Tultex assets from three plants in North Carolina were sold during hearings in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court. Aiken Equipment Sales Inc. bought the equipment for $4.75 million.
